Yasuke is the name of an African man, who became the first non-Japanese samurai in history…but…there are a lot of questions surrounding him. For example – What was an African slave doing in 16th Century feudal Japan? Which Country did he come from? Why were the people so fascinated by him? What was it about him that made a Japanese military leader, recruit him into his samurai ranks? Did Yasuke have any special skills that made him stand out from the rest? I discuss all of these questions and more in this video!!! I hope you enjoy!!!
