cries I’ve been wanting to edit to this song for a long time and I finally did it. Didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted it in my head but I’m giving myself credit for trying.
I feel very strongly about this song, particularly this part. The sheer, and raw emotion the artist expresses while singing the same lyrics. a rendition of ‘ I lost my friend, myself, and my lover’ interchanging it with ‘brother’
It made me think of Wei Wuxian. While the song itself is more about drug addiction and the perils that come with it. I saw it more for this in terms of our choices and decisions, impacting not just us but the people around us. There’s a lot of tragedy in Wei Wuxian’s life. Many bad things happened, especially when all he was trying to do was some good.
He lost so much trying to do the right thing. Lan Wangji, Jiang Cheng, his home, his family, his sister. all his friends he made, the people he tried so hard to protect. He lost himself in the process. I really hope I managed to convey the emotion I wanted to grasp because this is what I think about when I listen to this song play.
