Yamanaka Misaki : To recreate Molcar’s run, I put tape and wood under the body. I’m the last scene where Nausicaa and Colonel Musca jump around, I changed the speed and poses. It took 45 hours to shoot, and took 611 frames.
Kasubuchi Rio : We went to the zoo to take Molcar’s squeaks. We used a handy voice recorder called H2n made by Zoom, so we were able to record in high quality.
Director Shinohara Kenta : I was thinking of making this stop motion for about a year. However, we didn’t have the timing to shoot it, and was going to become a dead stock. Luckily, we were able to make it in time. The characteristics of Pui Pui Molcar TV version is that is made of wool felt. However, it’s difficult to make the soft impression with figures. I made it parody-like so that the moves of the Molcar wouldn’t become important. I hope you all enjoy the film!
