[ミネアポリス ２６日 ロイター] – 米中西部ミネソタ州で市民が移民・税関捜査局（ＩＣＥ）の捜査官に射殺される事件が相次ぐ中、民主党などから批判を受けていた国境警備隊トップのグレゴリー・ボビーノ氏が同州を去ることになった。トランプ政権高官が確認した。
ボビーノ氏の後任として同州で移民取り締まり「メトロ・サージ作戦」の指揮を執るのはトランプ大統領に国境担当責任者に指名されたトム・ホーマン氏という。
別の関係筋によると、ボビーノ氏は国境警備隊の「無任所指揮官」という特別に設けられた肩書きを剥奪され、メキシコとの国境のカリフォルニア州エル・セントロ地区沿いを担当する主任パトロール捜査官という元の職務に復帰。その後すぐに引退するという。
ボビーノ氏の「降格」は米誌アトランティックが２６日に最初に報じた。同氏が近く引退する見込みだとも伝えていた。
一方、国土安全保障省（ＤＨＳ）の報道官は報道に反論し、「トップのグレゴリー・ボビーノは職務を解かれたわけではない」とＸに投稿した。
トランプ氏は同日、ミネソタ州のウォルズ知事と電話協議。「とても良い会話で、われわれの波長は合っていたようだ」と交流サイト（ＳＮＳ）に投稿した上で「犯罪は大幅に減少しているが、ウォルズ知事も私も状況をさらに改善したいと思っている」と述べていた。 もっと見る
