The White House Covid-19 Response Team and federal public health officials hold a press briefing to provide updates on the Covid-19 response effort. The Biden administration plans to confirm Tuesday that it won’t likely hit President Joe Biden’s goal of getting 70% of American adults to receive one vaccine shot or more by the Fourth of July, according to advance remarks obtained by NBC News.

White House Covid czar Jeff Zients is set to announce that the administration has met the 70% mark for those aged 30 years and older and is on track to hit it for those 27 and older by July 4, according to NBC News. But it will likely take a few extra weeks beyond the holiday to reach the milestone for all adults, Zients will say in his prepared remarks.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and chief medical advisor to the president, joins the briefing along with Dr. Vivek Murthy, surgeon general of the United States, Jeff Zients, White House Covid-19 response coordinator, and Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
