I bought this lens mostly because I wanted a lens for casual walks and hiking. I usually use primes, but zooms have their place as well. The 24-70/4 is nice and sharp, but I really wish it had a larger aperture.
The macro mode is better than I thought. The build quality is great, and the image quality is quite good as well. Recommended.
I really do like the quality of this lens and the pictures I am getting from it.
Clearly one of the best lenses available out there, and Im surely not going to be the one who gives a negative review to such a great piece of equipment.
If this focal length is the right one for you, then look no further and dont be afraid of buying it because it never fails to impress. Well done, Canon!
Actually has pretty good macro along with the stabilisation this is a very flexible lens – I use it on the second camera when shooting products.
Excellent lens with very good macro function. Works very well on my Sony a7ii (with adapter).
Bought this for use with my EOS 600D Excellent quality. One thing to note – if you’re used to using the ‘standard’ lens that came with the camera (EF-S 18-55 for instance), this is a lot heaver. However I think the images it can produce are well worth it.
What a great lens! I use this with my 5D Mark III and it is a fantastic all-rounder. For working photographers on a budget who cant quite stretch to the f2.8 model, this lens could well become your best friend.
It may be a little boring for hobbyists, but if you need a high quality, reliable lens then you really cant go wrong with this one.

Wow, this lens is stunning. The colour reproduction and sharpness is amazing and my photographs have improved hugely. This lens has speeded up my post processing as the colours, contrast and sharpness are where you want them to be straight from the camera.
I love this lens and highly recommend it.
Very pleased with this lens smaller than I had considered, and it has micro which took myself a little while too figure out but once I had happy days… a good compliment lens too my 70-300 mm F4 which I had purchased earlier in the year…….very pleased
