［ブダペスト ８日 ロイター］ – ハンガリーを訪問中のバンス米副大統領は８日、トランプ大統領がイランとの紛争の早期終結を強く望んでおり、交渉チームに対しイラン側と誠実に交渉するよう指示したと述べた。
ブダペストで開かれたイベントで講演したバンス氏は、イランが誠実に交渉すれば合意は可能だとの見方を示した。一方で、イラン側には建設的に協議に臨んでいる勢力とそうでない勢力がいると指摘し、状況を「脆弱な休戦」と表現した。
「大統領は私に、また国務長官やウィトコフ特使を含む交渉チームに対して、合意に向けて誠実に取り組むよう指示した」と述べた。
「大統領は進展を急いでおり、われわれに誠実に交渉するよう指示した。イラン側も誠実に交渉すれば合意を達成できると思うが、それはあくまで仮定だ。最終的にはイラン側がどう交渉するかにかかっており、彼らが正しい判断を下すことを望む」と語った。
