[ワシントン １６日 ロイター] – カナダ、フランス、ドイツ、イタリア、英国は１６日、レバノンにおけるイスラエルの「大規模な地上攻撃」に警鐘を鳴らし、回避を求める共同声明を発表した。
「イスラエルの大規模な地上攻撃は壊滅的な人道的被害をもたらし、紛争の長期化につながる恐れがある」とし、「回避しなければならない」と強調。「大量の避難民などレバノンの人道状況はすでに極めて憂慮すべき事態だ」とした。
また、レバノンの親イラン武装組織ヒズボラの武装解除に向けたレバノン政府の取り組みに支持を示し、「持続可能な政治的解決を交渉するイスラエルとレバノンの代表者による実質的な対話を求める」と表明。「対話を促進する取り組みを強く支持し、即時の対立緩和を求める」とした。
