[ワシントン ７日 ロイター] – トランプ米政権は、イスラエルへの２万個以上の爆弾（総額約６億５０００万ドル相当）の売却を迅速に進めるため、緊急権限を行使して必要な議会の手続きを迂回した。事情に詳しい２人の米当局者が明らかにした。
米国務省は６日夜の声明で、ルビオ国務長官がイスラエルへの即時売却を必要とする緊急性があると判断し、売却に関する議会の審査要件を免除したと発表した。
この兵器パッケージには、イスラエルが要請していた重量１０００ポンドのＢＬＵ－１１０Ａ/Ｂ汎用爆弾１万２０００個が含まれている。
国務省は「この売却案は米国の外交政策と国家安全保障に寄与する」と述べた。
同省当局者は７日、追加情報を提供し、今回の売却には過去の売却内容の修正として５００ポンドのＢＬＵ－１１１汎用爆弾も含まれると説明。さらにイスラエルが直接商業販売（ＤＣＳ）を通じて２億９８００万ドル相当の重要な弾薬を追加購入すると述べた。
米国とイスラエルは１週間前にイランに対する攻撃を開始した。
米民主党のグレゴリー・ミークス下院議員は、ルビオ氏が緊急権限を行使して議会の審査を回避した決定について、イラン戦争への準備不足を示していると指摘した。
「トランプ政権は完全な準備が整っていると繰り返し主張してきた。議会を迂回するため緊急権限の発動を急ぐ行為は全く異なる現実を物語っている。これはトランプ政権が自ら招いた緊急事態だ」と声明で述べた。
