[ワシントン １日 ロイター] – 米国防総省当局者は１日、連邦議会関係者に対する非公開のブリーフィングで、イランが米軍への先制攻撃を計画していたことを示唆する情報はなかったと認めた。事情に詳しい関係筋２人が明らかにした。
米政権当局者らは前日、トランプ大統領が攻撃を決定した理由の一つとして、イランが中東の駐留米軍に「おそらく先制的な」攻撃を行う可能性を示す兆候があったと記者団に話していた。
ホワイトハウスのジョンソン報道官によると、国防総省当局者は１日、上下院における複数の国家安全保障関連委員会の与野党スタッフに対し、米軍の対イラン攻撃について９０分以上にわたり説明した。
関係筋２人がロイターに明かしたところによると、当局者はその中で、イランの弾道ミサイルと周辺地域の代理勢力が米国の利益に差し迫った脅威をもたらしていたと強調したものの、イランが米軍に先制攻撃を行うとの情報はなかったと述べたという。
