[ワシントン １４日 ロイター] – 米軍は、トランプ大統領が攻撃を命じた場合に、イランに対して数週間にわたる持続的な作戦を行う可能性に備えていると、２人の米当局者がロイターに語った。これまで両国間で発生してきた紛争よりはるかに深刻な事態となりかねない。
米政権のウィットコフ中東担当特使とトランプ氏の娘婿ジャレッド・クシュナー氏は１７日、ジュネーブでイランと交渉する。ルビオ米国務長官は１４日、トランプ氏はイランとの合意を望んでいるが、「非常に難しい」と警告した。

トランプ氏は１３日、核協議が「困難」と断じた上で、イランで政権交代が起きる可能性について「起こり得る最善のことのように思える」と述べた。
トランプ大統領は地上部隊派遣に懐疑的であり、配備された米軍の陣容から判断すると、主に空軍と海軍による攻撃が選択肢となるとみられる。関係者によると、今回進行中の計画は昨年のイラン攻撃よりも複雑で、核施設だけでなく国家機関や治安施設も対象となり得る。イランが報復する可能性は高く、米軍へのリスクは相当高まる見込みだ。
