[ワシントン １１日 ロイター] – 米陸軍が１１日、テキサス州エルパソ国際空港付近でエアロバイロンメント(AVAV.O), opens new tabのレーザー式対ドローン（無人機）兵器システム「ＬＯＣＵＳＴ」を使用し、これによって空域が約７時間にわたり閉鎖されたと関係者２人がロイターに明らかにした。
出力２０キロワットのＬＯＣＵＳＴは、従来の迎撃ミサイルに比べてはるかに低コストで飛行物体を撃墜できる最先端の対ドローン技術。米国が配備したことが知られている事例はまれだ。
エアロバイロンメントと国防総省はコメント要請に応じていない。
