[ワシントン ６日 ロイター] – 米共和党のダグ・ラマルファ下院議員（６５）が死去したと同僚議員が６日明らかにした。これを受け、共和党が下院で握る過半数は１１月の中間選挙を前にさらに僅差になった。
共和党はマージョリー・テイラー・グリーン下院議員も５日付で辞職しており、ラマルファ議員の死去で下院の現有議席は共和２１８、民主２１３となった。
民主党は昨年死去したターナー下院議員（テキサス州）の後任を決める今月３１日の決選投票後に１議席増える。
ラマルファ議員はカリフォルニア州選出。２０１２年に初当選した。
