皆さんこんにちは！いつも応援してくださっている皆さんに、この曲で季節のご挨拶をさせていただきます！！！冬休みが始まりました。信じられないほど暖かいですね！気温は24℃！もっと寒い地域にお住まいの方もいらっしゃると思うので、こんなことを言っても失礼に当たらなければいいのですが。私も雪が見たいのですが、残念ながら私の住んでいる地域では雪に最も近いのはみぞれでした。2016年2月のある日、気温が2℃まで下がりました。父がカジノリゾートにある点心を食べに行く車の中で（そこはセントラルヒーティングがあるんです）、雪が降っていると思ったら、とても興奮していました！でも父は「雪」が変だと言いました。溶けなくて塩みたいだったんです。車のフロントガラスに塩が付いていたみたいだったんです。ええ、当時私は6歳で、今でも鮮明に覚えています。皆さんのところはみぞれは降っていますか？
冬休みは今のところとても忙しく、色々なことをして、色々な人に会ってきましたが、もちろんこれはほんの始まりに過ぎません。国内外で私を支えてくださる皆様に心から感謝しています。両親は私と一緒に国境を越え、隣の街（徒歩）を訪れました。国境を越えた珠海で、素晴らしいレストランがたくさんある場所を見つけました！どのレストランも私たちにとって初めての場所で、値段も信じられないほど安かったです。現地で支払う金額の3分の1くらいで、選択肢も豊富でした。週末になると、多くの人が隣の街でお金を使うために珠海を離れ、珠海は閑散としていることに気づきました。個人的には、手頃な価格で質の高い料理を提供するレストランがたくさんあることに魅力を感じていますが、同時に地元のビジネスが苦戦しているように感じ、珠海が観光客で溢れていること（1月から11月までで3700万人）は複雑な気持ちです。父は私に、できることもすべきこともあまりない、と言い、「自由放任主義（laissez-faire）」という言葉を教えてくれました。彼にフランス語をいつから学び始めたのか尋ねたところ、少し説明してもらった後、「見えざる手」という概念で説明しやすいことに気づきました。いえ、経済学を学んだわけではありません。とても興味深い概念ですね。
「サーフ・ライダー」（カバー）は、私がサーフミュージックにハマった頃に最初に演奏したサーフソングの一つです。実は、私が初めて演奏したサーフソング「ミスター・モト」のスペシャルバージョンにも含まれていました。とてもシンプルな曲ですが、とても魅力的です。ジェリー・マッギーによるオリジナル曲のライブカバーバージョンを楽しんでいただければ幸いです。

Hello everyone! I guess I will use this song as a season greeting song for all of you, who have been supporting me all this time!!!! My winter break has started of course, and you won’t believe how warm it has been: 24c! I hope I don’t seem impolite, because I know some of you might be living in places where it has been quite cold. I want to see some snow too, but nope, the closest to snow in my city was sleet. in 2016, one day, the temperature dropped to 2c. My dad was driving us on our way to a casino resort restaurant to have dim sum and I thought it was snowing!!! I was so excited!!! But the “snow” seemed strange my dad said, as it didn’t melt, and it felt like salt. It just seemed to have some salt on the windshield of the car. Yes, I was 6, and I remember that experience very clearly. Do you have sleet in where you are?
My winter break has been busy so far, doing lots of different things meeting different people and all, and of course, it is only the beginning. I am grateful of course, because people I have that take care of me off line and people who take care of me off line! My parents has been crossing the border with me to go to the adjacent city. We discovered a place right crossed the border in Zhuhai where there are so many nice restaurants! All places look brand new, and we can’t believe how low prices are. It’s like 1/3 of the price of what we pay there, and there are so many variety choices. We realized many people have been leaving the city over the weekend to spend money in the next city, while our city becomes very empty. I personally find it fascinating that there are many places with good quality food and low prices that we could go to, but at the same time, I feel bad because local businesses seem to be hurting, because only the city now is only packed with tourists who keep flocking into our city. My dad says there isn’t much can be or should be done, and he told taught me a French term: laissez-faire. I asked my dad since when he learned French. After some explanation, now I understand it can be easier explained by the concept of “the invisible hand”. No, I didn’t take economics. But I find this concept pretty interesting!
Surf rider (cover) was one of the very first surf songs I played when I first started playing surf music. It was actually part of the version of the “Mr. Moto” I played (my first surf song). It would say it is a fairly easy song, but it’s mesmerizing. I hope you will like this Gerry McGee live version of the song.
