[２０日 ロイター] – ノーム米国土安全保障省長官は２０日、沿岸警備隊がベネズエラ沖の国際水域で石油タンカーを拿捕（だほ）したと発表した。米国がベネズエラ沖で石油タンカーを拿捕するのは今月１０日に続き２隻目。

ノーム氏はＸへの投稿で「米国はこの地域の麻薬テロリズムに資金援助するために使用される、制裁対象である石油の違法な移動を追及し続ける」と述べた。
ホワイトハウスのケリー報道官は、タンカーには制裁対象の石油が積まれていたとの見解を示した。
ベネズエラ政府は声明で、今回のタンカー拿捕について「重大な国際海賊行為」と非難し、「国際水域で米軍が行った新たな民間船舶の盗難とハイジャック、乗組員の強制失踪を糾弾し、拒否する」と指摘。
国連安全保障理事会のほか、各国政府などに報告すると述べた。
英海洋リスク管理会社バンガードは、拿捕されたのはパナマ船籍の「センチュリーズ号」とみられると述べた。
米法律事務所ヒューズ・ハバードのパートナーで元財務省調査官のジェレミー・パナー氏は「制裁対象ではない船舶の拿捕はベネズエラに対する圧力をさらに強めるものだ」と述べた。
ベネズエラ産原油の最大の買い手は中国で、輸入量の約４％を占めている。アナリストによると、１２月の出荷量は１日平均６０万バレルを上回る見通し。
禁輸措置が続けば、１日１００万バレル近い供給が失われることになり、原油価格が上昇する可能性が高い。
