I don’t think they added an extra move to Soul, but uh it’s got to be one of the original cast members, which it’s either going to be Solar Kai. I think Solar Kai, Solar Kai, Solar Flare. Um, let’s see here. Uh, Digital says, “No, yeah, this can’t happen. Can you please tell them not to nerf Johnny?” They won’t nerf Johnny. You know that they never nerf Johnny. Johnny will stay will always stay top tier. So, uh, yeah, we have to we have to just accept that fact. They love Johnny. Nago’s a good a good choice as well of um who to who to buff with a new special attack. Um, but uh I can’t I can’t think of anybody else. There’s Kai, Soul, Nago, May. I’d have to look at the list of characters, but uh Savon, what’s up? How’s it going? Imagine if they give Soul an air fireball. Maybe they’ll give him like an older an older move, you know, something that he’s had in the past but doesn’t have in the future. Um, such as Riot Stamp, that really janky looking move. Maybe they’ll fix this animation to look more fluid. That’s the one where he he uh basically for some reason or somehow just flies to the back of the screen, touches the wall, and then like does a kick going forward. Um, there’s that move. So, Savian says Soul, Kai, Nago, Leo, and Zad. Okay, Zo having a special move is kind of would be kind of wild. Leo, I guess Leo might Yeah. Okay. I Any one of those characters would be nice to have a a new special move, I guess. Yo, that chat from Canada, how’s it going? How’s your dizzy going? I don’t know about you guys. Like, I guess if I was a Hunter Hunter X Hunter fan, I would be, you know, excited no matter what, but I just was never I never watched it. It looks janky to me. They’re basically saying what is going to uh, you know, what what to expect. This is uh what I won from the Unika tournament, I believe. Or it could just be a random box that arrived. I I open it and it’s got like some some like legal documents I’m getting served. Uh Samurro says, “It’s a jank.” It’s jank because it’s made by uh Ultimate Morph Capon 3 devs. Also, devs say that there were there was uh they were already fixing net code. That’s a good sign at least. Yeah, that’s another thing. I heard the net code wasn’t good. And of course, if net code is bad, then I am not in my internet’s bad as it is. And I actually like I like Marvel vs. Capcom. M versus Capcom 3 for a period of my life was like my favorite game. My team was Dante, Hagar, and whoever else I could put in there. Uh for a while it was zero. So it was zero on on point. Hagar anchor. Oh no, no, actually it wasn’t Hagar anchor. It was uh it was Dante anchor. So let me just Open this box very quick. I need a knife. Yes. Zero. My Mega Man Go. Hell no. Hell no. Zero. The third character has had always changed. It was first, you know, Hagar, Dante, and Taskmaster. But I wanted to win, but I also wanted to play my favorite characters, which was Hagar and Dante. Um, and then zero point kind of worked well with that team cuz you can actually do lightning loops and all the big combos with uh with with the Hagaris and Dante’s jam session. I like I don’t know if I like Final Fight like the game, but I like the franchise. All right, here we go. There’s another thing in here. Basically, I got third place in the all Unica tournament which included the likes of uh or the talents of SQ and Hashi, you know, the evil winner Hotashi. So, I got number third. I’m a third place winner. SQ got first place and Hashi got second place and yours truly got third place. And we got a desk mat. Okay, so if you guys didn’t know, a little while ago, somebody data mined some files and leaked some important information regarding the game uh and its future. Uh, I am not I’ve never never I mean I may have accidentally seen some of the leaks on Twitter, not because of uh of my choice, but because of the nature of Twitter and scrolling. So sadly, I know things that I shouldn’t. Um, I’m trying to forget it though. I’m just making sure I have Is this your cat music? Am I allowed to play this? Anyway, it’s nice. All right, we’ll we’ll let it rock. Anyway, point is it happened. Arxis feels really bad about it. Uh and uh we shouldn’t talk about it. I am because I’m part of team Arc Creators. Uh I am not, you know, I’m not allowed to talk about what what that entailed. So, we’re not going to talk about it. In fact, we’re going to skip over the next thing uh and uh just read up on the response to it. So, in response to this incident last month, Guilty Gear Strive imple implemented counter measures not only against unauthorized access to the network mode using the leaked data, but also against specific mods that were causing actual harm to players. Due to security reasons, we may implement such updates without providing detailed information. Okay, fair enough. We will continue to work dilig diligently to ensure that you can enjoy the game with peace of mind. Now, in this developer backyard, we will give you a little glimpse into our plans for the remaining season 4 updates and also recap the character updates for season 4 so far. Excuse me. Future updates, uh, blah blah blah. Switch edition, Queen Dizzy, Venom, Unika. Anyone else bothered by the fact that she’s called Queen Dizzy and not just Dizzy? Is that just a me thing? I don’t know. I just known I’ve known her as my buddy Dizzy. Uh this queen business. I mean I mean I I guess I should pay respects to her success. Anyway, regarding future updates, first we apologize for the long wait for updates regarding quote unquote ranked match which was announced for implementation between June and August. Development is progressing smoothly but due to the need to implement security updates last month. We are currently up we’re currently preparing for an August release. Please see below for an updated development road map. All right, you guys you guys seeing this? By the way, let me go ahead and copy the the link into Twitch chat here so you guys can all see it in case you don’t want to hear me read this stuff and you want to kind of skim through it yourself. All right, so this must be new. I don’t remember seeing this. It is new because it says uh version developers backyard number 18. So uh it’s in moonspeak uh I cannot read moonspeak but I can read this English here. August 2024. So sometime in August we’re going to see Lucy new ranked match new balance update. This is going to be good for me because I have a tournament at the end of August. I’m playing this character right here, Queen Dizzy. She is dog water right now. And for those who don’t know what I mean by dog water. Um, it is water that is meant for dogs and not for human consumption. Okay, that that’s I shouldn’t explain what that is. Um, basically she’s not good. And if she gets balanced and if history repeats itself as with all DLC’s in the past, she will get stronger. She will get perhaps to a point of everybody complaining about her because that’s what happens. a DLC character comes out, there are D tier, dog water tier, and down the road a DLC patch comes out or a balance patch comes up for those DLC characters and they become S tier, Supreme Water. Okay, let let’s read some of this going and see what’s going on here. So, next update scheduled for August. Final character for season 4, Lucy, a guest character from Cyberpunk Edgeunners, uh, is one of the points here. The new ranked match mode. The balance adjustments all planned for the August update. The specific update date will be announced at the fighting game tournament EVO held in Las Vegas, USA from August 1st to 3rd, local time. Please look forward to it. That’s not good for me. So, they’re not actually going to release the balance patch right after EVO. So, oh boy. This is going to be an announcement for announcement. I’m hoping I’m hoping it’s before August 22nd cuz that’s when my tournament is. Please. Um, all right. Addition of ranked match mode. Okay. So, this feature is a mode where players of similar skill can be randomly matched for battles similar to previous titles. Here are the differences compared to the existing ranked tower. Okay, so ranked tower on the right, ranked match in the middle. So, matchmaking method. Uh, so it’s going to be random. So, you don’t you don’t pick and choose your opponents. You’re going to be set up with the appropriate rank rank management per character. Okay. So, rank tower per player. So, I guess right now what that means is um you know your profile has a level to it. Well, no. That wait, no. That level though is tied to the character. So, yeah, I don’t know what that means. Okay. Ranked tiers. Instead of floors 1 to 10 and celestial floor you have iron, bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, vanquisher. Okay, I’m going to aim for the van I’m going to aim for the vanquisher. Um, so it’s like uh it’s like it’s like street fighter, right? You guys want to be vanquishers with me? Let’s go. Okay, ranking updates updated at a certain point of threshold and uh here on on the tower it’s updated by win loss in a certain number of matches top rank rating you get points instead of number of wins. So that’s like if you go search your charact you know if you go to let’s say um the ranking here for instance it’s all based on the number of wins right so this guy right here this player Yama something or other what is that yama yama the kanji for like book Yamahan I don’t know has 22 276 wins this month. So, uh and because of that, no matter how many losses that this uh this person has, it doesn’t matter, right? Number one ranked, the number of losses does not affect that that number of wins there. Of course, I mean, it kind of does like if you if you lose a lot of games, uh then you’re not winning, I guess. Um but yeah, it is I guess it is indirect, but it doesn’t show anyway. If you win more, then you get to this point a lot quicker, right? That’s what that’s what I’m trying to say. Anyway, Yamamoto, Yamamoto, man, that kanji can be read many different ways. The rank tower will be renamed duel tower as an entry point for getting used to online battles for those who are not accustomed to fighting games or feel hesitant to play against random players without seeing them. The tutorial for the first time play of the network mode will continue to guide players to the tower as before. The tower has a demotion protection function where players will not drop below a certain floor if they perform specific actions like psych burst or wall break. What did I always do that? Okay, whatever. Additionally, the rank slash assigned floor is assigned to the player, not to the character, making easier to avoid intentionally lowering one’s rank to fight uh to fight players in lower ranks. So-called beginner hunting or smurfing. Okay, we hope it will, excuse me, we hope it will serve as a stepping stone which you can play as a casual mode to find players close to your skill level and then start ranked matches once you gain some confidence. After review of the tower’s role, the celestial floor will be changed to floor 11. All right, it functions as a normal floor above floor 10 as a celestial floor challenge has been removed. Therefore, while previously only players who had achieved celestial floor challenge or had a qualification to challenge it could enter the celestial floor, it will now be the excuse me, it will now be the topmost floor accessible to all players. Okay. Um well, I mean that makes sense if they’re going to be adding a ranked mode. M Juliv, how’s it going? What’s up? The song that’s playing right now is ahead on our way from Final Fantasy 7. In the conjunction uh sorry, in in conjunction with the rule changes for the tower, players whose currently Wow, I’m not reading this right. Excuse me. Let’s read that again. In conjunction with the rule changes for the tower, players whose current assigned floor is celestial floor will all be forcefully assigned to floor 10. Whatever. Uh the monthly celestial floor rankings and the ranking rewards will be handed will be handled as before. However, if your assigned floor is not celestial, victories achieved in the celestial floor will no longer be counted towards celestial ranking and rewards. Therefore, players aiming for top rewards in the August monthly celestial floor rankings will need to raise their assigned floor to celestial floor after the update. Please be aware of this in advance. I don’t think we’re going to be caring about that as there is a new kit on the block called Vanquisher. Vanquisher for those getting triggered for me mispronouncing that. It’s it is it I understand it is Vanquisher. RankMatch is character specific, making it a mode for for players accustomed to fighting games who want to test their skill with each character they use. um ranked match will begin with 10 placement matches to determine the appropriate ranked based on the win loss of these placement matches. The most suitable rank will be assigned to the current character. If your highest rank character is at vanquisher rank, you will start at a set rank even if you lose all your placement matches when starting ranked match with another character. This system makes it easier to avoid unintentional smurfing. Okay. Okay. Makes sense. Smurfing seems like something they really don’t want players to experience or to to do. Being smurfed or smurfing, which is which is good. Which is good. I think a lot of um I’ve heard a lot of kind of newer players complain about smurfing. Um, I don’t really understand the like I don’t I I don’t really understand the pleasure that one is derived from smurfing in fighting games anyway. Uh, I think Dota and like RTS might be a little bit different. Well, maybe like I guess it depends on the intention, right? So, sometimes I’ll make a new account in in Warcraft 3 or Dota. Um, not because I want to like, you know, trash on somebody or, you know, get uh just I I want to feel like I’m way better than this other person, but sometimes when you’re playing Dota and Warcraft 3 or especially Dota, cuz Dota games take from 30 to 45 minutes and you like lose seven games in a row and that’s like 6 hours of gaming. You need to like pick yourself up somehow. So then maybe you’ll maybe you’ll smurf. Maybe you’ll play on a new account and pick a character that you normally won’t pick or whatever. Anyway, I I don’t do that in fighting games. I will make a new account in fighting games sometimes. Uh but I will always go to the top floor. Any So here we go. Any clearly any clearly intentional manipulation of rank or sign floor and resulting beginner hunting or smurfing is a violation of the enduser license agreement and hinders healthy gameplay. Wow. Um they’re really really trying to enforce it which is good. This is good. I I feel bad saying the stuff that I just said before this because they’re like yo don’t do that if you encounter such All right. If you encounter such behavior, please report it through the game. Please don’t report me, guys. I swear to God. I swear to DK when I make a new account. I always go to the top floor. I always um I’m one of the good guys. I swear. Will take action from management side to foster a healthy online environment. Floor 10 smurfing. No, I don’t. If I make a new account, I guess for like three or four games it’s floor 10 smurfing, but that’s just to get into slash shell again. Uh, so slash so flower assault says, I think doing stuff that, you know, you you never get away with against your opponents of your actual level has a certain kind of fun to it. Basically, it’s a peanut butter and jam sandwich in the freezer department of your local Safeway and or Savon or your local whatever uh grocery store. And it doesn’t have the crust on it. They’re like kind of pressed in looking like a like a pizza pocket. And I saw Vladimir Guerrero Jr. endorsing it, so I must also eat one. So, balance battle balance adjustments. BBA. Let’s discuss some of the upcoming changes. We will we plan to make adjustments along the following lines for universal game mechanics that have brought up concerns. Revise the properties of Wild Assault. The plan to reduce the utility and dependency of wald assault, which is wild because it seems like they were trying to push it. Revise the effects of guard crush. The plan is to make it easier to deal with. H interesting. All right. Somebody alluded to that a little earlier today. Revise the specifications around the risk level. We aim for adjustments where a small amount of accumulation no longer easily leads to high damage compared to before. compared to before. So, no more are the days Kirime is going to kill you from a counter hit vortex after blocking him for one and a half seconds. He will he will kill you still, but after maybe one more interaction. Um, apparently NFL teams eat a shitload of incrustables. Oh, yeah. I mean, the Blue Jays, they’re loading up on Incrustables and they’re like now number two in the league, so maybe there’s something in the incrustables. I need some of it. All right, so let’s talk about this. Actually, let’s read this last little bit, then talk about it. We do not plan to strengthen alternative systems or add new systems as a result of these revisions. individual character adjustments will be made based on the revisions of these universal mechanics. Okay, so we’re not going to see another wild assault. We’re not going to see another, you know, bar of meter that you have to utilize or have to manage or whatever. But revising the properties of wild assault, I feel like first of all, it is unnecessary to have these two columns here. delete one of those two columns. Um, but they’re going to do something with white wild assault. It appears that characters with white wall assault are as difficult to deal with as they were before. So, let us do away with that or do something about it. Um, I don’t know. The the other wild assaults, are they that bad? Um, it does feel like characters have, how do you say, like their pressure is relentless with a with wild assault, right? And sometimes if you don’t know how to like deal with it or you sometimes you know how to deal with a wild assault, but you know, it’s not something that you can always react to. For instance, you know, uh I think if Bridget has you in a block train, she can like do a wall assault, set a yo-yo, and it seems like she can just continue her pressure. So, as long as she has burst and tension, you’re like locked into blocking type of thing. But, if you didn’t know, you can back dash the uh the wild assault when it happens, but of course, you have to react to that. And sometimes it it feels more of a RPS than a than a reaction, right? So there there are there are issues in that way. But I felt that that was the whole point of all the assault. You know, they wanted to make the game a lot more aggressive where I see a big problem or rather not necessarily for me specifically, but I see a lot of people on Twitter, a lot of people on social media complain about white assault the most. So maybe they’re going to do something about that. I don’t know. What do you guys think? White wall assault. Um, a measured guard crush nerf is is very welcome. Hey, Kura, how’s it going? What’s up? Berto says, “I only need my only characters I want nerfed are Pot, Ram, Johnny, and Nago. Damage tuned down.” Acrylic says, “I feel like Wald Assault in general isn’t out of control to be honest.” I thought so, too. That’s what I feel. I would not be mad about it being a less common, though. Samur says so I’m guessing wall assault won’t be plus anymore I mean wild assault I don’t know like it’s you’re not for for certain characters like let’s just say Dizzy for instance because you’re doing a wall assault doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve won the the match round like if you if you lock him into a block string and then you wall assault to continue blockchain. It’s just like, okay, more more mids, I guess, maybe a maybe a high if they have meter. Um, but that is a very precious resource that you don’t always want to just be throwing away. You want to use that wall assault for either a burst or uh or rather you want to use that burst meter for a burst or deflect shield uh if you’re dizzy, for instance. I don’t know. I think wild assault in itself using burst meter is is really weird. Uh Sibling, how’s it going? What’s up? Hope you’re doing well. This sounds like they’re going to uh tone down wall assault and give compensation buffs to characters they judge too reliantly. Yeah, like I’m thinking I’m thinking Dizzy. Dizzy. I rely on wall assault a lot to do like the most basics of stuffs, you know. Uh, I use wall assault in a way to make my character functional compared to the other characters while the other characters can just do um whatever move into Daro RC into high I don’t know but I have to use Waldo. I’ve used like half my burst for that to do the same situation. All right, so let me quickly read some of this and then we’re going to go ahead and talk about this guard crush. Um, yeah. So, that’s the problem with wall assault. Flower says, “I think it’s funny.” I think what’s funny is that all the big bodies who do have wall assault, a white wall assault, have have been so buffed that needing this tool to smash through your way through neutral is not a thing they need anymore. That’s true. I feel that too. Not sure about So, the chat says, “I’m not sure how I feel about wild swap being changed. I suppose it depends on how they change it. It’s not It’s nowhere near as strong as season 3. Yeah. Wall stop breaking the wall though. Kind of want to bring Yeah, I’d be pretty pretty wild to bring that back. Um, if they’re going to make guard crush easier to deal with, that really rather that significantly nerfs Dizzy right now because right now the popular way to play Dizzy is to be heavily reliant on your guard crush 6H and go force strike throw. So, if they’re going to do that to Dizzy, we better see some buffs. So, what do you guys think the nerfs to guard crush are? I have an idea. They’re not going to make it, how do I say? Um, they’re not going to keep it the way it is in terms of throw invulnerability. Throw invincibility rather. I feel like it’s going to have the same throw invincibility properties as if you were blocking, as if you’re getting hit or as if you’re waking up, you know? So, if you guys don’t already know, if you’re in a compromised vulnerable position and you recover from that position, such as blocking, getting hit, or waking up, you have five frames of throwing vulnerability. So the defender can mash on throw for instance or mash a very very fast spun like a four or five frame button and it will always beat the person on offense going for a throw like a throw off the first interaction. That is not the case if you block a guard crush, right? And this is like really nice for Dizzy because a lot of her big damage comes from a strike throw off a guard crush, you know, with your wings of light um activation and that sort of thing. So, if they’re going to be nerfing guard crush in this way, we got to see some Dizzy buffs. You know, it’ be cool if they gave Dizzy a command grab. There you go. That’s how you fix Dizzy in the next patch. The new move will be coming. Well, the new move will be coming to Dizzy and she’s going to have a command grab. I mean, they gave Venom a command grab. If Dizzy and PlusR and Dizzy and Strive play very similar but with like, you know, slight moderate to mild differences. I’m going to be getting myself confused between games. I want them as separate as possible. I want to be playing Justice Dizzy and Strive. And I’ll be playing War Crimes Dizzy and uh and and PlusR. That I mean, if they did that though, I’m not going to I’m not going to complain. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if she gets uh a lot of her plus R stuff, but I’m okay if it doesn’t happen. Yeah, I think they’re going to make it they’re they’re going to they’re going to get rid of um the lack of throw invincibility. they’re going to standardize it, which I feel like that’s that, you know, that should have been the thing that should have been the case on day one. That’s a mechanic that doesn’t exist in other Guilty Gears. By the way, there’s some certain there’s a some situation or rather um there was a unique situation in Guilty Gear XRD where you can wall slump your opponent and on the wall slump if they recover from the wall slump they don’t have that throw invulnerability. So characters like Zad and Ramoththal with a command grab and sort of like corner set play, they could basically do an unblockable with you uh on you. So like Ramthal for instance will have a sword timing like a projectile timing to hit you at like just slightly after you get up and then she does a command grab. So slightly after you recover from wall slump and then she’s got a command grab that she’ll time on frame one get you and you couldn’t like tech it or if you if you held up back you’re going to get hit by the sword. Um so and and Zad had that as well. They got rid of that down the line and because it was a problem. So, it’s weird that on day one they allowed Guard Crush to have that same kind of scenario which they’ve eliminated from a game with war crimes such as Exert. Well, maybe not war crimes, but I think you guys get the idea. Um, but anyway, the next thing is specifications to risk around risk revise the specifications around risk level. I don’t know if he Oh, yeah. I don’t know. Yeah, they just maybe maybe you don’t do as much damage if your risk is high. I don’t know. So, don’t think there’s very much to talk about there to be honest. Excuse me. But if I’m right about this, if I’m right about this guard crash thing, we better see some pretty significant big dizzy buffs. Plus our dizzy. You know, one thing that I would see, one thing that I wouldn’t um that I would like to see with Dizzy, which I don’t think is going to happen, is if they would give her another air uh yeah, air normal, another aerial attack. So, in plus R and um I guess in Guilty X, she has a J2S. I don’t know if if she had it in Guilty X. Anyway, in Guilty Plar, she’s got JS, which is her, you know, uh, what what you see in Guilty Gear, uh, Guiltier Strive, the same JS, icicle that moves horizontal. And then she had a J2S, jumping down slash, which she does a little spin with her wing. Her wing turns into icicle. She does a little, you know, uh, 360 spin, and it acts as a air to ground and also acts to hit behind her. which would be perfect for her in Guilty or Strive because she has lousy air to grounds. Um, and she doesn’t really have one that hits behind her. Whether she needs that or not according to the devs, I mean, that’s up to them, but it will really help on a lot of the setups that I do. It’ be nice to have that done, but I think it’s so late in their development cycle that they’re not going to be adding normals to existing characters. Sadly, I don’t think that’s going to happen, but it’d be cool if it did. All right, so Nintendo Switch Edition update. Does anyone play this game on the Nintendo Switch? Um, as you guys already know, as you guys may already know, Nintendo Switch Edition has um pretty lagged updates basically. I don’t know if it’s even up to date to now. Like, does it have Unikica? I’m not too sure. Um, but the updates are slower. So they say, “We sincerely apologize for the long wait regarding the update for Guilty Gear Strive Nintendo Switch Edition. Venom and Unika along with Lucy are planned for an update in the fall of 2025.” Damn. So I thought they didn’t have Unika, but they don’t have Venom and Unika. What are they? Oh, they’re working on Tokon. Marvel Tokon. That Damn, that’s crazy. But hopefully they’ll have a Switch edition. Yeah. So, Blood Angle says, “How does that work with crossplay or can Switch not play with other platforms?” Yeah, Switch is locked into itself, so you can’t play with other platforms. I think I think people have varying amounts of success of uh playing her like a grappler, playing her like a zoner, playing her like I do, like a set play character. Um but anyway, yeah, she can be played a lot of different ways. She’s very I feel like she’s a very she’s in a interesting spot right now. Oshido, funny and interesting. All right. Therefore, we always want to include Dizzy as a playable character at some point from the beginning of development. Yeah, because Dizzy also ching, you know, gets me playing her. I start making videos about her. Not that they’re very popular, but you know, uh, you got my I mean, whenever they put Dizzy out, they have my support, even though my support is not as loud. Necro and Dizzy, sorry, excuse me. Necro and Unine located on her back are her defining features. From our development experience in Axer, we knew that making Dia a playable character would require creating not only her, but also Necro and Unin. For this reason, her development period was longer compared to the other characters until her official implementation. Interesting. interesting as I know a lot of people have complained about um the lack of design of Necro and undine but rather I think it’s more of you know there it’s it’s not that they were underdeveloped but rather they wanted to go with a different direction right anyway isn’t it interesting that in Guilty Gear the anime this design for Dizzy was never implicated you Well, I thought the anime, and I guess this is sort of spoilers, um, would show this form of Dizzy, but they don’t. That’s not really spoilers, I don’t think. Um, the the the form of Dizzy that they shown in the in the anime is her extra design all throughout. So, I feel like the anime was in development before Queen Dizzy, the Strive Dizzy was in development. Anyway, character design. So, Queen, excuse me, Queen Dizzy comes from the point uh Queen Dizzy comes from a point in time slightly after the events of the anime. God damn it. All right, here we go. Let’s let’s let’s have an explanation of what I just said. So, um after the events of the anime Guilty Gear Strive Dual Rulers were Kai abdicated from the throne. Is that a word? Abdicated. Step down, says my wife. I read that as abducted. where Kai abdicated from the throne of the United Kingdom of Yria. She rules via Latia, a ne country within Yria’s territory inhabited by Gears together with Kai. Her outfit in this installment differs from her previous comet attire and is what she wears while performing her public duties in Vilatia. Uh the via Latia crest on her costume depicts a dove carrying wheat symbolizing peace and prosperity. So she no longer has her battle bikini. She now has a dress word battle design. Even as a queen, Dizzy still dislikes conflict. However, instead of being protected by Necro uh Necro and Unin as before, she now wields her power with her own will to protect the people she cherishes. The newly added ice field, male sword, and wings of light are special moves that represent disease growth. Ice field is a follow-up available after I use this to catch fish, which is her ice spike. I know it’s confusing because she actually summons these ice fish, but I used to c I use this to catch fish, quote unquote, is her ice spike. It spreads ice across the ground, affecting the movement and momentum of both players. It triggers a follow-up. It trigger It triggers a follow-up hit when knocking the opponent down, opening up combo potential when used well. However, it also affects the user, making it a double-edged sword. Male sword is one of Justice’s signature techniques. As Justice’s daughter, Dizzy could use this move in the Guilty Gear XX series as part of her EX version move set. In this installment, male sword has a visual appearance more closely resembling justicees. Wings of light was a technique with an immense attack power exclusively used by the gold CPU, Dizzy, and Guilty Gear XX series. In this installment, once activated, it possesses it possesses incredible power that depletes opponent’s health within its area of effect. However, it takes a significant amount of time to activate and will be interrupted if Dizzy is attacked during this period. Furthermore, while wings of light is active, the tension gauge will decrease over time and its effect will end when the gauge is empty. Therefore, considerable skill required to master it. Excuse me. Therefore, considerable skill is required to master it, but it can create unique match developments. I like how they say that incred considerable skill is required to master it. It makes me feel like um makes me feel good for using it, you know. It makes me feel good as a dizzy user. All right. So, next we have Venom. I’m not going to read any of Venom’s. In fact, let’s actually reflect on what I just read for Dizzy. So, yeah, we’ve already talked about how male sword is basically justice’s attack. Everybody knows that by now. Um, let’s address this wings of light technique. So, it’s a area of effect, right? But do you think it would be broken if it had a full screen effect? Um, I feel like it wouldn’t like in the current framework of Guilty Gears drive if they made Wings of Light full screen but not do deal not deal excuse me not deal max damage at full screen but deal uh, you know, deal less damage full screen or whatever. Do something full screen. um that will kind of force the opponent to or rather not force the opponent but rather encourage the opponent to want to engage. Um a lot of times you’re not in range when wings of light activates too. So I don’t know sometimes you activate at full screen, you do some full screen shenanigans trying to zone your opponent and then it activates and you’re like, “Oh my god, going close now.” Right? Um, but you might not have enough tension for that to be, you know, to be effective. Um, yeah, I don’t know. Yeah, I I think if it was full screen or if it did something full screen, maybe just do less damage at full screen. Uh, it’s not going to break the move. It’s not going to break the character. Um, and I don’t know, just I think that would be a pretty interesting design choice. Anyway, uh Samir says, “I always had faith that Dizzy would be in GGST hands. Initially, there was an internal proposal to release the character under the name Phantom. However, while he intends to conceal his identity, it’s quite obvious to the other characters. With this in mind, we decided to display his name as Venom in the end. Okay, I was wondering about that. I thought it’d be cool if they did just change his name to Venom. Excuse me. Uh to Phantom. We aimed for a unique venom uh to guilt gear strife, incorporating elements such as his signature billard gimmick with the ability to cancel his normal attacks after striking a ball with them, just like when connecting when connecting with an opponent. So that wasn’t a thing in the older Guilty Gears, by the way. You couldn’t hit a ball and then cancel it into another move. His ease of use is one making him a technical character arr. Okay, so similar to his instant kill move, Giga Machina system from Guilty Exert, his command grab Tribaca turns the opponent into a ball. They can be they can then be struck as shown below. The character’s ball has a unique appearance. So here we go. Yeah, you’re right. Out of all these, Axel I think is the funniest. Um, I didn’t notice this before, but Maze got a little dolphin there. What is what what are the thoughts behind those heads? Unika’s first appearance was in the TV anime. During the plotting phase of GGSTDR, general general director Daske Ishuatari handled her character name and design as a new character for Guilty Gear. I’m going to be doing this with my hand a lot as I’m reading because it makes me sound out words better. Ishawitari was provided with the essential elements for the script such as Unika’s identity as a daughter of Kai and Dizzy from the future. her personality up. No. Oh, these are a string of things. Wait, let me reread that. Ishtitari was provided with essential elements for the script such as Unikica’s identity as a daughter of Kai and Dizzy from the future, her personality, upbringing, and the fact she possessed means of attacking from a distance in addition to close combat. The result was a character very representative of Guilty Gear with the Thunder Seal Thunder with the Thunder Seal incorporated as part of her transforming armament. Her transformation was part of her design right from the initial concept. An unexpected addition. What? Her transformation was part of her her design. Wait, what? To me, this part implies it would be an expected addition because it was part of her design in the initial concept. Uh, so Krue says, “Might mean that Daska designed the transformation but wasn’t in the script at all.” Okay. All right. So, incidentally, the name Unika was given to her by Kind Dizzy before her birth. She has many undisclosed settings, but we hope to have an opportunity to reveal them someday. Okay, cool. still things to learn to know from of Unika. So, she was supposed to transform in the anime. I I think that’s what we’re trying I think that’s what they’re trying to say. Or rather, maybe the the Okay, so here’s what I think. This is my interpretation. They’re they’re going to make the anime. They said they’re going to have a character that is named whatever Uni. It’s going to be kind’s daughter from the future. And yo, there’s uh my favorite anime characters uh Chica and Kaga right there looking at the chat. So they so they said this is a character and then they like gave Daskuke sheets of paper to jot out some brainstorming ideas and designs and whatever. And you know, after they’ve I don’t know, maybe before, um, uh, maybe they already had the script and everything of Unika and what she’s going to be doing in the in the anime. Um, uh, but but then the just like mic dropped and was like, “Yo, check this [ __ ] out. Um, Unika can turn into Dizzy. Isn’t that cool?” like, “Oh, [ __ ] We didn’t have that wasn’t in the script.” And he’s like, “All right, well, we’ll put it in the game.” All right. So, Krill says they gave Dai the script and told him to design. He went off the script and transformation, I bet. Yeah. Okay, there you go. Yeah, me and Ailla are on the same page. All right, so a lot of things that we don’t know about her still. So, battle design. Now, Unika is a excuse me, Unika is designed as a character who can unleash diverse attacks by transforming her weapon during battle. Hence, she has a large number of command normals. Although her command list might appear complex at first glance, we aim for battle design with the ease of use of five stars to encourage a wide range of players to try her as a completely new character for Guilty Gear Strive. So, she’s like the Luke of Guilty Gear Strive, right? Luke was placed in um placed in Street Fighter 5 late in development and now he’s like the poster child of Street Fighter 6. I feel like Strive is going to do the same thing. Um when Guilty Gear 6 comes out, Unika is going to be like the main character. Uni and Sin, they’re going to be the new soul in Kai. her command normals two to six including four P or her 6P give her access to quick input special move follow-ups really thank you can 6P you can yo Mr. Dra vamp, how’s it going? And then you basically the fish hits as a cross up, right? So, if I hold back, I’m going to get hit by the fish. All right. Yeah. So, that crosses up. Very tricky cross up. Very tricky mixup. Um, and of course, you can do a same side by doing like a maybe you don’t want to do a neutral jump, but like you do a neutral jump even sooner or you do a JD, right? something like that. But you can do it in a way so that the JD hits him from behind. Oh, maybe I can’t do it. I might be not remembering the setup here, but Huh. Hold up. But you Oh, I know. I’m not hitting. So, hypothetically, if that JD like either had a bigger hit box or you can like kind of hold down so that it goes downwards or whatever, then it’ll work both on standing and and crouching, right? So, that’s that’s one of the little quality life buffs that I’m hoping they would add. And like in any other Guilty Gear iteration, this move, this function, whether it be a fireball, a fire bubble, or ice bubble. Um, in the previous iterations, you could give it a little bit of influence. You can hold down to like kind of make it go down a little bit. You can hold up to kind of Wait, it doesn’t do that actually. You can just either go forward or down, right? So, that’d be nice. Anyway, that’s one of my wish lists. Uh uh buffs, quality of life buffs. Yeah, they simplified it for Strive. They did, but I think they can add a little bit more complexity to that move. Um, well, I don’t know if adding it I don’t know if giving it a bigger hitbox is complexity, but uh yeah, I think they need they uh it it needs something needs to be done with it, I think, for that. Maybe you’re aware that fire spear the fire uh you know cors forward kick does neutralize ice spear. Um and maybe you’re too hyper aware of that. You know that that’s a thing. But I, you know, every once in a while you can kind of sneak an ice spike into Dizzy. And when you do, it’s it’s pretty it’s uh pretty significant. Um I would say in general, uh if you have your opponent in the corner and they don’t know what to do against Dizzy, like you know, if you’re applying pressure, figure out ways to open up your opponent um utilizing your resources. Like if you have burst and you have meter, going in with like a like a block string into a wild assault, cancel that into 5D RC and do a combo off that. That’s like really good. Well, maybe not really good, but that’s one way to open up your opponent. Stuff like that. Or if they’re respecting you a little bit too much with and they’re content with blocking, um, mixing throws and that sort of thing. So, I’d say in general, yeah, that’s that’s what you uh kind of want to work on. Um, but yeah, you got the right idea for the, you know, for catching people who are jumping in on you, which is like, believe it or not, that’s not something a old Guilty Gear player does very well. like me and players who played like 20 years ago and they if they started off with Guilty Gear, we are known to be bad with anti-airs, right? Maybe because our anti-airs in the game, those games were not really good to begin with compared to other fighting games, but an excuse. Um, yeah, your sixpiece are good. Oh [ __ ] Okay, there we go. I feel like the JD is a integral part of full screen neutral, especially with um with ice field out against Millia. Anyway, if we can do all that, I could do a bigger punish. All right, lows are good. Doing a low. One more low. Good kill. Ryu has showed me that they can block the high, so I must do the low. Oh [ __ ] the hair car. Okay. All right. RG’s there, Ryu. I uh I should probably go to bed. I wish I could throw two H and neutral with same efficacy. I’ll give I’ll show you a trick about it. Actually, I only I don’t do it as much. There’s only certain matchups where I throw two H and that’s against characters who like to be in the air where um where I feel like the risk, which is very high, is complemented with very very high reward. So like a character like Millia. Um although I don’t think me doing it is probably not doing Yeah, I’m not a good example. I I probably did it a few too many times. Um but Ru says, “I hate this matchup. It’s so complicated for me.” Yeah, I think if Dizzy gets the opportunity to set up a fish or ice field like a pea fish to cover the skies um so that all Dizzy needs to worry about are the um uh you know other lateral ground approaches. So, you know, that’s really strong for hers. So, you know, one of the things I like to do against Millia and against other characters, too, who just like who have like a lot of aerial options, set up Pish and just start swiping 2S. Try to catch like a slide or or run out of buttons or something like that. So, I’ll do that against like Soul and like do it against Millie if I can. Do that against even like Leo. It works very well against characters who have trouble moving forward laterally on the ground. Um, so there’s there’s something there’s that that you have to deal with. And then there’s ice field, right? If I have time to set up ice field and then I I basically put a minefield in the air in the form of JD uh fire spear, pish even. Usually it’s uh JD cuz it’s like one of the safer kind of air uh one of the safer zoning projectiles with the ice field out. It’s so good. And if they like kind of so like JD is so cool because it with or without ice field it’s so much effective with ice field because you can convert off it. But like without ice field and with ice field you can JD and then like air dash if they if you see your opponent just like staying grounded respecting the JD a little bit too much and she’s like in right. So that’s cool too. So you got to deal with that. I think Millia has some tools to deal with those particular things like every once in a while random hair car it like worked which is um I mean I I don’t ever want to encourage people to use random hair car in their neutral but you know if I’m like trying to swipe 2s um all the time and I don’t know it does work sometimes and when it does I get hit I get knocked down and then Millia does her Mirror says 2 H is a good antier along with 6P. 2 H is like saying it’s a good antier is probably too I don’t know. I don’t want to say it’s a good antier. It’s a it’s an antier option. Um, it’s a more of a proactive antier option that is high risk, high reward and surprisingly does catch a lot of just people staying in the air a whole lot. So again, I use it against Millia. Um, but I don’t know, it’s it’s it’s still very risky. thing about two H is that if they stay grounded against, you know, if your opponent stay ground stays grounded and they play a character that capitalizes on, you know, moves that have long recovery, you know, if they’re a whiff punishing character, Millia Chip, for instance, like they can kind of dance around, dance outside of your range. You do two H and they run and and punish you. It’s really dangerous against um those kind of characters. But yeah, I mean, if they’re staying in the air and they just like hop around the air, you don’t know where they are. Every once in a while, throwing a 2H does help. It does work. But a better thing to do if they’re really staying up in the air and this they have a lot of hang time is actually just fire spear core circle 4k. It’s just that two has like has like way better um uh uh reward, I guess. So, it should be good familiar, but it’s kind of specific, says Aryilla. Don’t underestimate your ground game. Um, Dizzy 6P is bad. That’s true. Ria says, “My brain and fingers stutter whenever I play XER.” Oh, sorry. Whenever I play Dizzy. Wow. Ferodian and Slip XD. I need more practice. Well, I’m always here. I wouldn’t say I’m always here, but I’m here for you. Random hair car is good when spaced if you’re using it to specifically call out something uh that is see a counter poke. And then KA says random hair car is great as a is a great as a prediction tool to blow up people throwing fireballs if you do it early enough. It makes it harder for people to spam fireballs against when against you when they risk giant counterpoke launching counter hit. Uh but if they respect it a lot, it’s not work. It doesn’t work cuz they run up and can easily be pun. That’s true. They just easy punish. You block it and they punish you. Kim says, “Lai, what the plan for long sets for mythic practice?” Um, good question. So, I do have a list of characters I need to practice against. I should put Soul on there since you’re going there, too. But the plan is to actually make notes against characters that I know I’m going to be facing during Mythic, the big tournament in a month from now. So, I know I’m going to be facing Johnny, Angie, Bikin, Gio, and Testament. I’m going put Soul on here, too. And what I’m gonna do, and you guys are free to peruse through my notes, but I also have notes to fill out. So for instance, against, let’s just say I got a lot of notes against Alfelt, but Johnny, I might redo all these notes. So what I like to do is I uh I have headers here. round start, neutral, offense, and defense. So, you know, at some point maybe I’ll dedicate a stream to a particular character. Let’s just say Angie. Do I have Angie on here? No, I don’t have Angie. So, um I can start making notes against Angie, like what I want to do round start, what do I want to do on defense, what I want to do on offense. And um you know the notes are going to be long. And one thing I should actually write up here is at a glance. I have another header saying at a glance or summary. So I can glance at it before a set and think or immediately put some thoughts in my heads on what I want to do during those matchups. So for instance, uh I’m going to start one for Angie actually right now. And then in a stream, what I’m probably going to do is dedicate that stream to Angie. And then, you know, I’ll ask Braun, for instance, in advance if it’s okay to do a long set. And either before or after, we’ll we’ll write out kind of notes to figure out what we want to do against the character. So already I have some ideas to write against Angie. Um and oopsies. Do I not have defense and offense against Axel? I’m just going to just clear this up so I have stuff to write. So it’s going to look like this. on defense. I need to know like I talked I I mentioned this on stream while playing Brun, right? I need to know uh what to do like what’s my call out? Um I guess uh combo versus uh what is it? What’s the movie does? Of course for heavy the fujen fujen into when he hops up and throws a the fan fujen into hot dog right now. I did what? Like J like JK but maybe it’s JS actually right? So what we’ll do Oh Jimmy, I’m sorry man. I am not doing matches at the moment. I’m going to wind down for bed. Yeah. Yeah. Fujin into the P the fan toss. So I guess there’s this This would be good. But I need to like actually do it. So next time I play Braun, for instance, I’ll be like, “Okay, now I now I know this. I know what to do. I know what to um I have an answer to this, right? So we’re going to write it down and try to implement it. So JS rising JS counter hit into counter hit land 5k 6H anyway and then yeah basically write notes do long sets practice for this tournament focus on the characters that I know I’m going to be playing in the tourn tournament such as Angie, Soul, Slayer, um, etc. I think there’s a bed there, too.
