In this SCENE from TERRACE HOUSE Aloha State HAWAII (テラスハウス アロハ ステート) NIKI NIWA (丹羽仁希) asks TAISHI TAMAKI (玉城大志) about his relationship with ANNA HANEISHI (羽石杏奈). TAISHI is being hilariously vain because he thinks that both NIKI and ANNA are into him. This leads TAISHI to feel guilty about the fact that he wants to pursue NIKI instead of ANNA (whom he had originally pursued with vigor). NIKI doesn’t care either way, in fact she isn’t even into TAISHI. But NIKI is a great peacemaker in the season, and so she conveys to TAISHI that ANNA was put-off by him telling her that she shouldn’t be so touchy-feely with guys she isn’t interested in (basically calling her a tease). NIKI’s intentions are good and pure, she is just passing along some information that might be useful to TAISHI if he wants to continue courting ANNA. But of course TAISHI has forgotten all about ANNA at this point and has completely set his sights on NIKI. Though NIKI hasn’t realized this yet. I just love this scene because it shows that NIKI, a lovely girl and a great peacemaker, can actually be assertive and share her opinion even if it might be an awkward topic.
